Christina + Ryan | Statler

Christina and Ryan were married at the Statler in downtown Buffalo on the rainiest day this year. Normally I can find a patch of clear in the sky, but this day was downpours and wind. However, Christina and Ryan were absolute rockstars, and totally didn’t let it dampen their spirits (haha) one bit.

I met up with Christina at Salon Elizabeth’s, where she was getting her hair and makeup done with her girls. I always love that Salon Elizabeth’s is a one stop shop for hair, makeup, and a beautiful getting ready space… perfect for wedding days. After that we traveled to the Statler and changed all of our outdoor first look and portrait plans to indoors. We opted for indoor portraits in the red rooms at the Statler, with a few under the safety of City Hall’s covered area (however, the wind was a bit on the high side of things, so we didn’t stay out too long. The rest of the day was absolute perfection.

And because I don’t believe that brides and grooms should stress about weather on their wedding day, because you can’t control it at all, I offered my “Rain Date” portraits to Christina and Ryan, and am so incredibly happy they took me up on them. We met up about a month after their wedding at Knox Farms, had the most beautiful lighting ever, and a stunning sunset to follow. Rain on your wedding day doesn’t mean you won’t get the picture perfect portraits you desire… it just means that maybe plans need to adjust a bit.
